The welcoming of refugees and grassroots solidarity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Refinteg-conference-1.png\" alt=\"Routes and walls\"><\/p>\n<h1>The welcoming of refugees and grassroots solidarity<\/h1>\n<h2>Conference<\/h2>\n<div>\n<p>October 27-28, 2022<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><em>Within the scope of the Refinteg project, the University of Genoa and the Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS, Canada), in partnership with the Laboratorio di Sociologia Visuale and Centro Med\u00ec, are organizing the international conference &amp;quot;The welcoming of refugees and grassroots solidarity: state of research and best practices in Europe and Canada&amp;quot;.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The purpose of the conference is to explore current developments in refugee intake and solidarity practices in Europe and Canada through three main areas:<\/em><br \/><em>&#8211; Politics of refugee reception;<\/em><br \/><em>&#8211; Welcoming and local solidarity;<\/em><br \/><em>&#8211; Private refugee sponsorship programs.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>In an effort to provide an open and multidisciplinary platform for dialogue, the organizers invite established and emerging scholars and practitioners to share their research and expertise in the field and welcome approaches from a variety of disciplines, including, but not limited to, sociology, anthropology, geography, law, political science and urban studies.<\/em><br \/><em>The conference language is English. Submissions should not exceed 300 words, and should be submitted along with a short biography of the author(s) by June 30, 2022 to ervis.martani@unige.it. Accepted proposals will receive a notification by July 15, 2022.<\/em><br \/><em>Selected papers will be evaluated by the organizers for submission to a special issue of a peer-reviewed journal.
