Possible futures. The place of desire between old narratives and new scenarios – Laboratory

Genoa. October 2022

How can we express the individual / collective desire for the future?

This pedagogical and creative laboratory arises from the desire to explore which performative tools can be effective at the service of a research of participatory sociology. Our topic is the future, perceived by young people as empty. The utopias of the past century have failed. The “sun of the future” has set; the new generations do not “see” any future. Ecocide contains genocide and belongs to us, we are the ones who bury and is buried. Faced with this catastrophic scenario, let’s try to reverse the question: what choices are we making? what do we want? how can we change our future’s perception from passive / powerless to active / potential?

How can we express the individual / collective desire for the future?

The Lab. Possible futures is realized by Luisa Stagi (prof. DISFOR) and Alessandra Vannucci (visiting researcher LSV/DISFOR), working in co-creation with Anna Daneri (art curator) and Michele Cinque (video-maker) and 30 students and 10 citizens; partecipating Massimo Cannarella (camera). It happens on Tuesdays (Oct. 4, 11, 18, 24) at 18h, in Luzzati Lab, Teatro della Tosse and continues as a Seminar on the same topic (Nov. 8, 15, 22, 29) at Palazzo Ducale, always at 18h.

On Dec. 6th, we’ll offer a first devolution of the work in process in a creative and pedagogical event at DISFOR (Aula Magna, 18h).
