“Borderlands and Solidarities” has released the first four episodes

The first four episodes of our new podcast series, “Borderlands and Solidarities”, are online. You can find them here.

In the first episode, entitled “preparing the Boza”, Khalid Mouna, Professor of Anthropology at the Moulay Ismail University of Meknes, currently resident researcher at the Institute of Advanced Research of Nantes, interviewed by Luca Queirolo Palmas (University of Genoa), with his words he brings us to Morocco, illustrating the forms of organization of solidarity practices in the camps of migrants who are preparing the “Boza”, to reach Europe.

In the second episode of “Borderlands and Solidarities”, Luca Queirolo Palmas (University of Genoa) meets Marco Martiniello (Université de Liège) and talks with him about social mobilizations and public debates related to migration issues, as well as the relationship between art , migration and solidarity.

The third episode focuses on the situation of Mayotte, an island amid the Indian Ocean, which being part of France, and therefore of the European Union, is subject to strong migratory pressure. A place of Europe “outside of Europe”, where the contraddictory character of the reception measures are most evident. Luca Giliberti (University of Genoa) talks about all this with Georgeta Stoica, Lecturer in Anthropology at the University Center for Training and Research Mayotte.

In the fourth episode of the podcast Enrico Fravega (University of Trento) interviews Luca Giliberti (University of Genoa) about his latest book: “Abitare la frontiera”, published by Ombre Corte ed. The book is the result of a three years long ethnographic research process, carried on by the author in a borderzone spreading across the Italian-French border of Val Roja. A focal point in the migratory routes towards France and Northern Europe.

Nella prima puntata, dal titolo “Preparare la Boza”, Khalid Mouna, Professore di Antropologia all’Università Moulay Ismail di Meknes, attualmente ricercatore residente presso l’Istitut de Recherche Avancée de Nantes, intervistato da Luca Queirolo Palmas (Università di Genova), con le sue parole ci porta in Marocco, illustrando le forme di organizzazione di pratiche di solidarietà nei campi di migranti che stanno preparando la “Boza”, per raggiungere l’Europa.

Nella seconda puntata di “Borderlands and Solidarities”, Luca Queirolo Palmas (Università di Genova) incontra Marco Martiniello (Université de Liège) e parla con lui di mobilitazioni sociali e dibattiti pubblici legati ai temi della migrazione, oltre che del rapporto tra arte, migrazione e solidarietà.

Il terzo episodio si concentra sulla situazione di Mayotte, isola nell’Oceano Indiano, che essendo parte della Francia, e quindi dell’Unione Europea, è soggetta a forti pressioni migratorie. Un luogo dell’Europa “fuori dall’Europa”, dove è più evidente il carattere contraddittorio delle misure di accoglienza. Di tutto questo parla Luca Giliberti (Università di Genova) con Georgeta Stoica, docente di Antropologia presso il Centre Universitaire de Formation et Recherche Mayotte.

Nella quarta puntata del podcast Enrico Fravega (Università di Trento) intervista Luca Giliberti (Università di Genova) sul suo ultimo libro: “Abitare la frontiera”, edito da Ombre Corte ed. Il libro è il risultato di un percorso di ricerca etnografica lungo tre anni, portato avanti dall’autore in una zona di confine che si estende oltre il confine italo-francese della Val Roja. Un punto focale nelle rotte migratorie verso la Francia e il Nord Europa.
